How do you tell your family you have cancer?

“into each life some rain must fall”

When I originally found out I had cancer it was very difficult. But one thing I didn’t really expect to hit me so hard was telling my kids and my family. I’m not sure if it was the delivery of bad news or the simple exercise of speaking this information into existence that troubles me more. Did I want to avoid upsettng my children or did I still have a little bit more reality to face?

This is a video I made after I did tell them. It was still pretty raw for me but I thought it was important to let people know that you are not in this alone. You have people that love you and they want to be there for you. Your support system is vital to your success. That may be family, friends, the doctors and nurses, a local support group, etc. But find someone.
